Ewalu’s new program for high school students

True North is more than your typical summer camp. It is a unique, immersive experience designed to forge resilience for youth in grades 9-12 through high adventure, all within a collaborative reality-game show-inspired format.
The core program wil be a residential summer camp at Ewalu, where campers are part of a cabin team, working together on exciting challenges. Each day brings new adventures guided by thoughtful questions and themes to help navigate the experience. A daily mission briefing will present the day’s challenges and opportunities, and campers will earn rewards to mark their progress.
Watch the video below as Frank and Emily share more about the program, which will begin in 2026:
From rappelling and exploring underground caves at Backbone State Park, to making a real impact through community service projects, campers will be challenged and grow in their faith AND their sense of belonging. Also part of the program is a one-day True North event at Wartburg College in the spring, where students will have a mini “Amazing Race” across campus, work together on a service project, and enjoy the facilities at The W, including a rock wall and pool.
Rooted in the fruits of the Spirit in the book of Galatians, True North will help high school students develop character and build inner strength through every challenge and adventure. Whether campers join us for a week of adventure at Camp Ewalu or a dynamic day at Wartburg College, True North is where adventure builds resilience.

On May 21, Ewalu raised $33,000 to help launch True North during Great Give Day, a 24-hour online fundraising event. Funds will help pay for staffing, development and other resources for this brand-new program at Ewalu!
