JOB TITLE: Ranch Hand
RESPONSIBLE TO: Program Director
EMPLOYMENT: Full-time, temporary (May 26-August 9, 2024)
SUMMARY:
Camp Ewalu is seeking a Ranch Hand to assist with animal chores for our Farm Program during the summer camp season from May 26 to August 9. The Ranch Hand will be responsible for the care of the farm animals that complement our camp programs. These animals may include chickens, goats, sheep, turkeys, rabbits, kittens, horses, and more. The Ranch Hand will also assist with mowing, minor maintenance, camp garden, and various camp projects as needed.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPERIENCE
Responsibilities:
- Feed and care for animals on the farm.
- Clean up after animals and keep the farm area clean.
- Assist with mowing (riding lawn mower)
- Assist with camp garden.
- Assist with heavy lifting and physical labor as needed.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
Requirements:
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as heavy lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Basic knowledge of animal care is a plus.
- Flexibility to do both morning and evening chores.
Hours:
Sunday: 2 – 6 p.m.
Monday-Thursday: 8-4 p.m.
Friday: 8 a.m. – noon.
If the Ranch Hand is not able to work during one of those chore times, they must arrange with another summer staff member to cover their duties. The Ranch Hand is not responsible for chores on Friday evening, Saturday morning or evening, or Sunday morning.
Note: This position requires the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Alternative Employment Option:
The above Job Description is for a full-time, hourly position, but it is an option for the Ranch Hand to live and work on-site if they are at least 18 years old. If candidate is interested, they would be paid a stipend, receive room and board, and serve as Support Staff. Inquire about this possibility during the interview.
COMPENSATION
Starts at $12/hour.
Option for stipend, room and board if candidate is at least 18 years old.
