Watch or listen as DC Randle, retired educator and former expedition director, presents on the topic of “Exploring Tropical Ecology in the Peruvian Rainforest.” After earning his degree in science education at Wartburg College, DC began his career teaching behaviorally challenged students at Saint Francis High School in Minnesota. He learned about the Jason Project and was chosen to be one of six educators to take part in the Amazon Exploration Project in 1994. In 1996, he became an assistant canopy researcher, conducting studies in herbivory and developing educational programs for high school groups coming into the tropics. For many years, he brought groups of students to experience a new environment of tropical ecology, indigenous culture, sustainable development and rainforest research in South America. In 2000, DC began working as an expedition coordinator for trips to Peru. He has been honored with several educational awards for his dedication to education and young people. DC is also an Ewalu summer staff alumnus!
